I decided to see how well my 123d could do while on an a long highway run on the Autobahn. I used every fuel saving technique know to achieve this: Drafting off a truck, driving slow, and using cruise control. It does stay very low, from 3.2-4.0(71-88UK MPG). But from what I understand, at extreme low numbers it starts becoming a bit inaccurate. Still, I would say the true average for this type of driving should be around 4L/100km or 71 UK MPG. I have recently tried to get a realistic low fuel economy. I managed 5.5L/100km (51 UK MPG) for a few hundred KM. It worked.
